Help for us in times of trouble.

Image 10

Good morning! I hope you have had a wonderful night’s rest. The morning here is bright and lovely. As I anticipate a busy day, I am pausing to write to you about God’s help to us. I mentioned previously that whenever I have seen chipmunks in the area, they usually scurry into the forest and hide. Well, the one above purposely ran towards me. Perhaps this was this chipmunk’s way of asking me for help.

Do you need help? Are you in distress? God is here for you. Are you overwhelmed? God is here for you? Do you need wisdom? Again, God is here for you. There is no matter too “small” that we cannot bring to His attention. Because we may be going through a difficult time is no indication of God’s displeasure towards us as believers.

When King David’s son turned on him and caused David to flee, he penned these words in the book of Psalm that we can gain encouragement and wisdom from.

Psalm 3 The Holy Bible NKJV ( New King James Version -near the middle )

1  LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!

Many are they who rise up against me.

2  Many are they who say of me,

“There is no help for him in God.”        Selah

3  But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,

My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

4  I cried to the LORD with my voice,

And He heard me from His holy hill.       Selah

5  I lay down and slept;

I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.

Dear Father, may you bless us and encourage us in the fact that you are for us, not against us. I pray that you strengthen and give us your calm assurance that enables us to overcome the obstacles that cause us to become anxious and distressed. May our faces shine brightly with your love today, to be a blessing to others in need of you, in Jesus’ name, amen

Good morning! I hope your day has started off well. Do you sometimes feel like the destroyed tree looks in the above photo? It is surrounded by flourishing trees that stand together in unison. The tree that is destroyed looks charred at the bottom with remnants of it’s former multicoloured beauty wanting to still be displayed and remembered.

Are you suffering an illness? Are you not fitting in with those who are well surrounding you? Are they arrogant and unsympathetic to your suffering? I would like to guide you to Psalm 6 of the Holy Bible. God sees and cares about our suffering. He has not abandoned us.

Psalm 6 NKJV ( New King James Version- near the middle )

1  O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,

Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure,

2  Have mercy on me, for my bones are troubled;

O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

3  My soul also is greatly troubled;

But you, O LORD–how long?

4  Return ,O LORD, deliver me!

Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!

5  For in death there is no remembrance of You;

In the grave who will give You thanks?

6  I am weary with my groaning;

All night I make my bed swim;

I drench my couch with my tears.

7  My eye wastes away because of my grief;

It grows old because of all my enemies.

8  Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;

For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.

9  The LORD has heard my supplication;

The LORD will receive my prayer,

10  Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;

Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.

Psalm 71 NKJV

9   Do not cast me off in the time of old age;

Do not forsake me when my strength fails.

10  For my enemies speak against me;

And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,

11  Saying, “God has forsaken him;

Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”

12  O God, do not be far from me;

O my God, make haste to help me!

13  Let them be confounded and consumed

Who are adversaries of my life;

Let them be covered with reproach and dishonour

Who seek my hurt.

14  But I will hope continually,

And will praise You yet more and more.

15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness

And Your salvation all the day,

For I do not know their limits.

16  I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD;

I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

Dear Father, may you strengthen us everyday to overcome the trials, temptations and sicknesses we endure. May you protect us from our enemies and provide peace to us in abundance. Show us your righteousness so that we may follow you and do what is right and fair. Thank you for your presence in our lives to guide and to comfort those who have low positions in life and those who have high ones as well. Thank you for showing us  beauty in trouble and your lovingkindness every morning. May you help us endure with joy through this day, in Jesus’ name, amen

Look at the birds of the air!

Matthew 6:25-34 The Holy Bible ( near the back )

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. …

Good morning! Look at these ducks resting! I appreciated that I could get so close to them without them heading quickly towards the water.

Can you spot the red cardinal? I was fortunate to see not one, but two male cardinals in this small area. I could not believe how calm all of the animals were yesterday!

Psalm 5: 11-12  The Holy Bible ( near the middle )

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;

Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;

Let those also who love Your name

Be joyful in You.

For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;

With favour You will surround him as with a shield.

May God our Father bless us with abundant provision today,whether it be friendship, clothing, food, love, peace, and His lovingkindness. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Good morning! I hope you are enjoying your morning so far. Did you sleep well or not at all? Our God sustains us as we sleep. If you cannot sleep ask God for His help. I remember being woken at all times of the night and wanting to read God’s word. I didn’t understand it was maybe God’s prompting to do so, but it became a habit for a while. I was offered guidance and knowledge even though the hours were strange. From the book of Psalm we are told of God’s sustenance of us while we are unaware. We can be fully awake and not be fully aware of God’s provision and care for us! I hope today you will find ways that He cares for you.

Psalm 3:5-6The Holy Bible ( near the middle )

I lay down and slept;

I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.

I will not be afraid of the ten thousands of people

Who have set themselves against me all around.

Imagine tens thousands of people being against you. It might not be that difficult if you are surrounded by conflict and there seems to be no escape. God gives us strength and the book of Psalm also tells of safety for the faithful.

Psalm 4

To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!

You have relieved me in my distress;

Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

How long, O you sons of men,

Will you turn my glory to shame?

How long will you love worthlessness

And seek falsehood?

But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly;

The LORD will hear when I call to Him.

Be angry, and so not sin.

Meditate within your heart on your bed,

and be still,                                       Selah

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,

And put your trust in the LORD.

There are many who say,

“Who will show us any good?”

LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.

You have put gladness in my heart,

More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;

For you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

We gain great confidence day by day the more we read His word guided by The Holy Spirit!

May God grant you peace as you go about your day. Lift up your troubles to God! He is our sustenance! Please keep those who are persecuted in your prayers: I pray for you God to provide guidance and protection those around the world who are being persecuted. May many be saved because of their belief in you. May you give us wisdom today and lead us along safe paths. Thank you, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Be still.

Psalm 46:10 The Holy Bible (near the middle)

Be still, and know that I am God;

This morning has been one of concern for a loved one and lies from another. What to do when someone is trying to manipulate and place fear in your life?

Trust in God! I am concerned now for those suffering persecution in Egypt, Syria and North Africa.

Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible NKJV

God the Refuge of His People and Conqueror of the Nations

Psalm 46: 1-5

God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear,

Even though the earth be removed,

And though the mountains be carried

into the midst of the sea;

Though its waters roar

and be troubled,

Though the mountains shake with its swelling.               Selah

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,

The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;

God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

I have been told lately of God coming through “just in time”, this is what I think when I read the last line above. ” God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.” We are told by Jesus to not be like this world. God is our provider and our strength. Some of us are waiting for God to help us, just at the break of dawn. I believe when things are “just in time” a number of things happen. We see God knows best, we see His miraculous power, our trust and faith grows stronger, and we learn how to depend on Him.

I pray today as you are reading this you are blessed and may God grant you from His word, a sense of peace and calmness. A sense of being still and attuned to His presence. May God provide relief for our brothers and sisters in turmoil whether personal or collective. In Jesus’ name, amen

Don’t worry!

Good morning! This morning I would like to talk about what God says about worry. Jesus has said not to worry many times in The Holy Bible. Even though what looks like trouble can be disturbing, Jesus shows us that we can trust in Him.

I was deciding what photo to put with this morning’s daily inspiration. I chose the boat photo and asked God to guide me to scripture to include this morning. Well, it is one of my favourites and mentions a boat! It is as follows:

Luke 8:

Jesus Calms the Storm

22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

What I find fascinating and makes me really wonder is that God knows our human reasoning. He knows that most of us would be intimidated by this storm. Jesus asked “where is your faith?” Jesus seems bewildered that they did not trust. They panicked and feared. I think I would too! But I know the more I am led by Jesus it is starting to make more sense to trust in His ways though they don’t always make sense to me, than my own reasoning.

Trust that God is for you. Cast all your anxiety on Him. He cares for you in every detail of your life. There is nothing small or too big that He can’t handle.

I pray that you are led by God to cast all your anxieties on Him. I pray today you feel closer to God and become aware of  the ways that He protects you. Sometimes he says yes, no or wait to our prayers. He knows what is best. May God protect you and lead you today into beauty and in love, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Eternal Glory

Good morning! I hope all is well with you this lovely Saturday morning!

Yesterday, I listened to a radio program discussing the purported lack of interest of the American government in response to Christians being targeted by symbols being placed on placed on Christian property in Egypt. While many are suffering violence, fear and uncertainty in Egypt, it has been said that this targeting of Christians is not unlike what happened in the holocaust.

How do I feel about the thought that God allows us to suffer when we are serving Him knowing that all it takes for Him to make a situation stop is for Him to speak it? I will turn to the bible and look for guidance and instruction in it.

1 Peter ( near the back ) 4:12-19 The Holy Bible NIV

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

1 Peter 5:8-11

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

I would hope that these scriptures and many more bring strength to our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being persecuted in Egypt and also around the world. Certainly this message isn’t intended to exclude innocent people from prayers, Christian or not, but to bring attention to the evil of specifically targeting one group of people for violent and dehumanizing persecution.

1 Peter 5:7

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

We can all receive great comfort from knowing that God cares about our hurt, injustice and suffering. Let us pray and hope for a tremendous amount of good to come today as we seek the truth and long for wisdom and guidance in a time of turmoil whether personal or collective such as in Egypt.

I pray that as you are going about your day God blesses you with strength, courage, steadfastness and a love for others that bears witness to His continuous provision and abundance of care and concern for us. In Jesus’ name, amen
